Financial Aid
The University subscribes to the principal that the primary purpose of a financial assistance program is to provide aid to students who without such assistance would be unable to attend or remain in the University. Financial assistance is awarded according to individual need and University costs. The FAMU Office of Financial Aid administers monies available from Federal, State and University, and private sources in the form of scholarships, grants, employment, and loans.
To be awarded financial aid, applicants must (1) be citizens or permanent residents of the United States; (2) show financial need for need-based aid; (3) be at least half-time, degree-seeking students (4) maintain satisfactory academic progress.
Students may apply for financial aid by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to the Federal Student Aid Processor. Students who have attended other colleges and/or universities must submit a Financial Aid Transcript for every institution attended, whether aid was received there or not. The report from the Federal Student Aid Processor is called the Student Aid Report (SAR) and must be submitted to the Florida A&M University, Office of Financial Aid, Room 101 Foote-Hilyer Administration Center Tallahassee, Florida 32307-3200. All forms, including the completed SAR, should be received by the Office of Financial Aid as soon as possible after January 1. The preferred due date is April 1 for the following Fall Term.

CAFS Scholarship Program
The College of Agriculture & Food Sciences (CAFS) is seeking outstanding students to apply for more than 100 scholarships ranging in values from $2,000 to $10,000. Additionally, the College employs more than 50 students with an annual payroll exceeding $250,000.

The USDA / 1890 Program
The objectives of the USDA/1890 Programs are to attract minority students into careers in agriculture and related fields, including Food Sciences and Agricultural Sciences; share expertise and resources in areas such as agricultural research, extension and teaching programs, technology development, limited-resource farmers and minority farmer programs, and rural development programs; and to increase the involvement of the 1890 Land-Grant Institutions and Tuskegee University in the delivery of USDA programs. The programs include: the USDA/1890 Task Force, the USDA 1890 Scholars Program, and the USDA/1890 Liaison Officer Program.
